1. Introduction to Personality Psychology

We will cover the basics of personality psychology, idiographic vs nomothetic approach along with the applications of personality psychology.

2. Allport Trait Psychology and early 'Super Trait' Theories

Feb 9 11:15am .. 12:15pm, Prague

In this section we will cover the early trait theories of Allport, their recent resurgence in Humanistic Psychology along with the PEN model developed by Eysenck & Eysenck.

3. Methodologies Employed in Personality Psychology

Feb 16 11:15am .. 12:15pm, Prague

We will go over some of the methods used in personality psychology and the modern applications such as content analysis and other personality assessments in the world of data collection/analysis.

4. Freud and Early Psychodynamic Theories of Personality

Feb 23 11:15am .. 12:15pm, Prague

In this section we will begin covering the Freudian understanding to personality. This lays the groundwork for other theories of personality that we will cover including Jung, Adler, Erickson, Horney and Kohutt.

5. Analytic and Individual Psychology Theories of Personality

Jung and Adler will be covered along with their contribution to the understanding of personality psychology and psychotherapy.

6. Horney's Feminist Psychology and the Beginning of Ego Psychology

In this section we will cover the important contributions of Karen Horney to understanding how personality develops and how it is intertwined with the culture and society. Ego Psychology and the understanding of the importance of developmental trajectories in personality development will also be covered.

7. Erickson's Theories and Humanistic Theories of Personality

Covering Erickson's understanding of Personality along with Rogerian theory.

8. Midterm Exam

9. Existential and Humanistic Personality

Covering Rollo May's understanding of personality, existentialist theories and Terror Management Theory and how it applied to personality and values.

10. Personality Disorders

Psychopathology and looking at the DSM-5 model on personality disorders along with other approaches such as the psychodynamic understanding of the disorders.
