Work on a 700-word Rhetorical Analysis essay utilizing at least 1 source. Draft due for in-class peer review next class. Drafts are worth 20 points. BRING A PRINTED DRAFT. Explore Purdue OWL’s section on Academic Writing in Resources > Purdue OWL.. Find a section and review it for class presentation on September 7. Review ENGL 101 Rhetoric & Composition (ENGL) 182-184, 188, Research Strategies Read (in Resources > Texts) Writing Unleashed: Argument (WUA) 53-66: Researching Critical Thinking (CT) 34-36: Rhetorical Analysis Read Rhetorical Analysis Process in Resources > Rhetorical Analysis IN GENERAL: Get to know NEO. Get to know MS Word or a similar program. MS Word is the preferred program for this class; Google Docs has formatting issues. This is important since formatting is something I grade on. Start thinking about a topic for your argumentative research essay

2. Session 2: Homework from 7 September

Submit your summary of the comments you’ve RECEIVED on YOUR ESSAY by 11:59 pm, September 8, to the folder on NEO. Revise and submit your rhetorical analysis essay to NEO and in hardcopy to me. (I greatly prefer reading hardcopies.) WE WILL START THE CAUSAL ARGUMENT ESSAY NEXT CLASS. Read CT 2-8 The Writing Process (yes, we did discuss it today) Review ENGL 137-142, Cause and Effect in Resources > Texts Review Causal Argument Practice in Resources > Causal Argument PRINT AND FILL IN CA Progress Check in Resources > Causal Argument

3. Homework from 14 September

Final Rhetorical Analysis essays have been submitted and collected. The folder is closed. Work on a draft of a 1,000-word cause-and-effect essay using at least two sources; PEER REVIEW next class. Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, September 22, to the folder on NEO. Submit your summary of MY comments on YOUR final RA essay by 11:59 pm, September 22, to the folder on NEO. Revise your draft of a 1,000-word cause-and-effect essay using at least two sources. Final due next week by end of class to NEO and in hardcopy to me (I greatly prefer hardcopies). 8. Homework from November 2

Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, November 3, to the folder on NEO Revise your draft of a 2,000-word AR essay using at least 5 sources. Peer review of draft 2 next week. Draft will comprise 30% of final essay grade. PLEASE NOTE: Because I forgot to bring your essays to class today, the due date for your summary of my comments will be next week, November 11 (yes, an extra day), 11:59 pm.

9. Homework from November 9

SUBMIT YOUR SUMMARY OF MY COMMENTS ON YOUR PROPOSAL ESSAY BY 11:59 PM, November 11. Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, November 10, to the folder on NEO Revise your draft of a 2,000-word AR essay using at least 10 sources. Final due in hardcopy (to me) and to NEO by 5:15 pm, November 16. Take quiz 3

10. Homework from November 16

THERE IS A NEW AR NEO FOLDER. Please submit your essay to the new folder by 11:59 pm, November 18 (Saturday). Work on a draft of a 1,500-word evaluation essay using at least 3 sources; peer review of draft next class. Draft will comprise 20% of your final essay grade. Rubric used.

11. Homework from November 23

Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, November 24, to the folder on NEO Submit your summary of my comments on your final AR essay by 11:59 pm, November 24 to the folder on NEO. Revise your draft of your 1,500-word, 3-source (at least) evaluation essay. Finals due next class in hardcopy (to me) and by 5:15 pm to the folder on NEO. Take Quiz 4.

12. Homework from December 7

Submit your summary of the comments you received on your reflective essay by 11:59 pm, December 8. Submit your summary of MY comments on your evaluative essay by 11:59 pm, December 8. Work on a 1,000-word reflective essay using 2 of your previous essays as sources. Final due next week (last day of class) in hardcopy to me an uploaded to NEO. Work on a 5-10 minute presentation based on your AR essay. For presentation to the class next week. Take Quiz 5
